Me and my friends
Last weekend, a group of people from my office went for a social work in one of the Orphanage in the suburb. It took 1hr and 30mins to get there from our office. This house was unmanaged as they have no fund for maintaining the house. Therefore, we wanted to help to repaint the rooms. There are 61 kids from the age of 2 years old until 18years old. They came from a different backgrounds.
We go back and forth for three days. We worked so hard to help these kids to paint their rooms' walls. The relationships grew between us.
Those kids came from different backgrounds. When we heard the stories from the elders, tears rolled down our cheeks. Some of them were left there by their parents and never come again. Some of them are the result of unwanted pregnancy.
There is one story that I wanted to share... It really touched my heart.. There is a girl in the orphanage. Actually she still has a mom. She was born from a prostitute mother and thank God, the mom has decided to follow God to be a priest. She entered a school of theology. The story doesn't ended here with a happy ending. There was a man offered her to take care of her daughter (13 years old) while she was studied. However, he raped this 13 year old girl. One day, she got a chance to run away.. and she came to this orphanage. She asked to stay for a day. But instead, the elders offered her to stay there as long as she wants.
She became an introvert. She hated men at that time. With the patience of the elders and love, she doesn't hate men anymore and now she has a boyfriend and dedicate to serve Jesus together. She is now about 17 years old.
What i can see from this social work that i do that please look down. Don't always complain and compare your life to others. Our life is so beautiful in its own way. Life is not perfect, but if you appreciate what you have now, your life will be so perfect.
It seems that we have problems.. heavy problems..

u’re definitely doing a great job sweetie!
it’s a privilege to be able to serve them. their stories r indeed sad but the orphanage gives them hope & a new extended family, including urself.
it gives me a great satisfaction when i interact with them, seeing them smile and happy..
It's a very hard work.. but it gives them hope too..
